Who would have thought that technology and fashion could collaborate in such a stylish way? Apple is claming its first fashion contact with long-established British designer Mulberry. The bags are created for multi-purposes, everyday use, and so can carry your Macbook, or provide the perfect handbag for shopping. The collection is made up of nine pieces, including bags for the iPhone, laptops and more general use.

Mulberry’s creative director, Emma Hill, said of the partnership “Apple and Mulberry share a legacy of craftsmanship and I’m thrilled that we were asked to be Apple’s first luxury collaboration”.

Mulberry has used two existing designs, the Bayswater, created for women, and the Brynmore for men. The bags preserve their familiar designs exteriorly but the added ‘Apple’ design is noticeable on the interior, where a padded lining section provides the protection the fragile laptops require, allowing them to be easily transported in daily use. The interior also is inclusive of pockets for your iPhone and iPod, even with easy headphone access through specially designed eyelet holes.

Surely it is unusual for such a classic British design company, renowned for its leather bags, to dabble in accessorizing the technological market, yet perhaps this marks a date in the collaboration between fashion and technology. As technology and modernity take over, through the Internet, television and gadgets, perhaps fashion has realised it wants a slice of the technological pie. Apparently Apple products really are “too beautiful to reside in drab bags”, as Hill states.

The Mulberry-ed Apples will be available to purchase on Apple’s website and in Mulberry stores from November 1st. The ideal Christmas present for the stylish man in your life that adamantly purchases every new gadget..? Apparently ‘gadget’ and ‘stylish’ really can go in the same sentence.
