So I was flicking through the channels on television, and I came across a show entitled ‘Rude Tube’. This show counts down the 10 most viewed Youtube videos. Everytime I watch this show my jaw literally drops at the amount of nonsensical things that can be accepted to be put on television like that; not to mention the 30 seconds of televised fame that these people have recorded due to boredom! On this particular episode, the number one video was a guy renamed ‘The human beatbox’ But not just ordinary beat boxing, oh no, this is beat boxing with a twist. But the competition wasn’t easy, he had to go against a newly married couple dancing to ‘Baby got back’ by Sir mix a lot at their wedding reception, a dramatic squirrel, amongst many other random clips floating in youtube cyberspace.

Is this what boredom has succumbed to? Recording a video of yourself doing the most unthinkable things? But then another question has to be asked, is this another way of getting yourself out there?

I know all of you have spotted a video or two that has received millions of views that they’ve made it on television because of the outstanding popularity. No matter the video content. Is this what is considered as suitable for television? Fame has been limited down to cats jumping on chairs, and arguing with other cats. It brings up the argument has the perception of fame been changed. I remember fame being recognised for talent, or something extraordinary that you don’t see everyday.

I’m going to bring it back to you readers, what is your perfect formula for getting on television?
