Sport and Music

The Hoosiers’ English contingent – singer Irwin Sparkes and drummer Alfonso Sharland – ended up in Indianapolis because they were surprisingly awarded a football scholarship to the state’s university. Surprising, that is, as they both claim to be ‘allergic to running’. Other pop stars have a sporting history, too. Check this sporty trio out.

Sean Paul – Water Polo, Jamaica

Kingston’s biggest export spent most of his teenage years in the water. Following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps, he was a member of Jamaica’s national water polo team, leaving at 21 to pursue his career in music.

Kano – Football, Chelsea FC

22-year-old Kane Brett Robinson is better known as MC and pop star Kano. The East Ham boy began representing Chelsea FC and Norwich City by his early teens (thanks partly to his netball-teaching mum). Eventually, though, music won out.

Snoop Dogg – Rowlands Heights Raders, American Football

Once a promising footballer himself, America’s OG started coaching The Orange County Junior All America Football League before breaking away to form his own Snoop Youth Football League earlier this year.
