Xuefei Yang - music reflects life

The Classical BRIT Awards 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall was a star-studded celebration of classical music in all of its many wonderful forms. t5m was there to talk to the winners, nominees and performers about the highlights of their musical year, their musical inspirations and heroes – and we got some intriguing answers. You don’t hear Eminem and Pavarotti mentioned in the same sentence often which goes to show the range and diversity of attendees.

We got everyone to sign a beautiful Karl Hofner violin, made out of cedar, maple and ebony. This violin is now a unique piece of musical history with signatures from Josh Groban, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Colin Davis and 15 of the other winners, performers and nominees.

Register on the competition page for a chance to win the violin.

Blake after the award Blake after the award
Congratulations to the Winners of the NS&I Album of Year, Blake. The boys, Ollie, Stephen, Jules and Dom talk to t5m about where they are going to put their award (a few interesting options) and how excited they are to get it. It's great to see the camaraderie of the group which met on Facebook and haven't been singing together long as they joke about with each other. The great work that the BRIT Trust and BRIT School do gets an important mention but the real excitement is meeting their hero, Andrew Lloyd Webber, as one of the boys started his career in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - and no, he won't sing some (although our interviewer, Emma, gives us a few bars)...  More

Jonathan Ansell Jonathan Ansell on making it perfect
Tenor at the Movies star, Jonathan Ansell, talks to t5m after the show about the performances that he loved. Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman were a highlight but the best bit for him was Josh Groban's performance on the piano. For Jonathan classical musicians are aspirational people who are always trying harding and wanting to make it perfect. ...  More
