t5m caught up with New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra at this year’s Classical BRIT Awards. Hayley told us that red carpets still made her nervous and self concious: but we can’t imagine why, she looked stunning in her metallic grey floor length gown. Hayley was up for NS&I Album of the Year, which she said she was excited about, but equally excited about watching Jose Carreras perform.
Hayley also told us how important events like The Classical BRITS are in boosting media attention on classical music, and that she feels this is giving classical music a “wider, younger audience”.
