Dallas Austin and U2
Channel: The Brits
Music and film producer Dallas Austin talks about the musicians he loves to hear and wants to work with.
Austin comes dressed in his own brand of clothing, Rowdy, named for his musical production company, while his two gorgeous dates come dressed in a mix of Miu Miu, Costume National and Christian Louboutin. Of the Louboutin, he says they are the “best shoes ever!”
The act he is most excited about is the collaboration between Mark Ronson and Amy WInehouse. “Everybody’s stars, but Amy’s had a great year, an incredible album and I think they deserve it.” He adds “they’re the superstars here to me.”
Dallas Austin says that of all the people to work with, he wishes he could be with U2 star Bono. “I love Bono” he says, and “that’s one of the only people I haven’t really worked with.” Austin has produced tracks for acts as diverse as Madonna, the Sugababes, both Michael and Janet Jackson and Aretha Franklin.
Austin’s biggest musical inspiration is James Brown, as his stepfather worked with him. He is a self described “James Brown tour baby,” but his influences don’t end there. “Prince has also been a very, very big inspiration” adding, “I can’t forget about him, he’d hate me if I did!”
