A celebrated designer is helping to bring a London venue back from the brink of extinction.
Kate Moross, famous for her signature Topshop range, is using her talents to restore Plan B nightclub to its former glory following a fire.
The Brixton landmark was almost destroyed by the blaze back in May. The heat from the fire was so intense that the club’s DJ equipment melted into a solid block of metal and plastic, according to Ben Kreeger, event and promotions manager for the venue.
Mr Kreeger revealed that the damage was so bad that the management had considered closing the club permanently. He said: “We couldn’t believe it, it was fully insured but we were due to miss out on a huge amount of business. We very nearly walked away from the club entirely.
“But, ultimately, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and we eventually saw it as a chance to reinvent ourselves. We have a strong history as a South London institution and we didn’t want to leave that behind.”
It wasn’t long before the club attracted the interest of Miss Moross, whose previous clients include Cadbury, Sony, and Simian Mobile Disco. She also runs the record label Isomorphs.
Kreeger added: “Kate will be helping to shape the visual identity of the club; she’ll be contributing to the logo, lighting, advertising and visuals.”
Plan B will reopen on October 23. For more information, visit
