Russell Brand’s good vibrations
Channel: Silver Clef Awards
Exuberant comedian Russell Brand was in fine form as he spoke to t5m at this year’s star-studded Silver Clef Awards. Brand was there to present The Newcomer Award to winner Amy MacDonald, following the success of her debut album ‘This Is The Life’.
Chatting with t5m at the lunchtime event at the Park Lane Hilton, Brand enthused about the merits of music therapy. ‘Ain’t it that Mozart’s music’s better than anyone else’s for that? I’m into it! Cos it means vibrations have some kind of significance, like how we’re just a vibration! Vibrations, you know, as the Beach Boys said, are good’.
Whilst Russell Brand’s excitement over vibrations isn’t all that surprising, the music therapy work done by Nordoff Robbins is pretty remarkable. The charity provides over 30,000 therapy sessions a year in this country, helping patients deal with trauma and disability by building connections and trust though music.
The O2 sponsored awards raise a phenomenal amount of money for the charity. This year saw Britpop legends Oasis receive the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award, presented to the band by fellow Mancunian, boxer Ricky Hatton.
