From a young age, Ruth had a regimented lifestyle where she would wake up at 6.30am ahead of breakfast and practice for one hour before going to school, she tells t5m. She enjoyed competing with her classmates, which encouraged her to strive further and push herself which Ruth agrees was a good thing for her.
One of her idols used to be the genius Heifitz, who in her eyes, has an extraordinary personality which comes across in his performances. She was amazed how he played the violin, and thought she would never be able to play like that, not because of the way he played but the way he projected his identity throughout the piece. Ruth enthuses that Heifitz convinces you that it is the only way to play…!
