Basso and Brooke’s LFW show took the fashion world by storm with it’s varied collection and inspirations - with everything from body - con jersey dresses, to voluminous surreal shapes and monochrone cocktail dresses.
So, we caught up with Chris Brooke backstage at London Fashion Week to talk through the collection - starting with the first section which took it’s direction from the 90’s supermodel - strong, sexy and beautiful women. With their draped body-con jersey dresses, emphasis on curvy shapes and a ‘wet look’ finish, Chris quite rightly describes the look as ‘pure sex’ and we cannot disagree.
He also talks us through the way the collection experiments with volume and hyper-realist shapes and patterns, clearly influenced by Jeff Koons. The show also marked a first for the design duo, as it also featured monochrome dresses which they have ‘never explored before’.
So where to now - Milan? Paris? No, not for these directional designers, Basso and Brooke are off to Uzbekistain, in search of inspiration!
