Masters of print Basso & Brooke
Masters of print Basso & Brooke
Day 4 of London Fashion Week was won by Basso & Brooke with their 'coming of age' collection at the Science Museum. Their psychedelic prints had taken on a more refined identity, there was a strong Japanese influence and the origami-like silhouettes were absolutely fantastic. We interviewed Steve Brooke after the show, and he explained the Japanese influence in the collection.

Basso & Brooke muse Namalee was sitting pretty on the front row, dressed head-to-toe in those eye-catching prints. Day Four also saw super-sweet party dresses parade down the runway at the Jenny Packham show,

At the end of the day Jasper...  More

The very best of day five of London Fashion Week includes the highly anticipated Peter Pilotto and Meadham Kirchoff shows, which showed back to back at the BFC tents bright and early Thursday morning. Peter Pilotto was the name on everyone's lips throughout the week, and they didn't disappoint. MeadhamKirchoff followed spectacularly with an intense collection featuring shredded denim and fine black lace. We interviewed both pairs of designers backstage after their collections.

Sinha-Stanic showed an attitude-laden, 90's referencing collection at the Royal Academy. The designers explained the 'rebellious, beligerent' Sinha-Stanic girl to us backstage after the show.

Thursday also kicked off...  More

Eley Kishimoto S/S ‘09
Eley Kishimoto S/S '09

This season, Eley Kishimoto invited us to invoke our inner child with their aptly titled collection, Little Devils.

The S/S 09 show played out like an eclectic medley of childlike fantasies and whimsical imaginings that manifested themselves in gingham skirts and floral smock dresses; in hats and helmets of all shapes and sizes and in sparkling lizards emblazoned across fluorescent jerseys.

Colour schemes and prints were just as schizophrenic, as if torn from the pages of a kid’s colouring book; indeed the first few looks saw the whole outfits delineated boldly, with a heavy black, as if by felt tip. Further down...  More

Colour, colour, colour
Colour, colour, colour
Day Three of London Fashion Week was a heavy hitter, beginning with the Aquascutum show which was packed with influential fashion press and buyers. We caught up with Natalie Massenet, founder of net-a-porter, on the front row. She cited Luella and Todd Lynn as her favourite shows of the week so far.

The collection was beautiful, with lots of navy blue and experimental pleating. As Bea Hurst predicts, the week has been dominated by layering and colour colour colour!

Koran designers Steve J and Yoni P filled the Off-schedule quota of the day, and actress Margot Stilley gave her stamp of approval.

LONDON FASHION MUSIC!
LONDON FASHION MUSIC!
Vivienne Westwood, the Queen of Punk and partner in crime of the anti-fashion music movement of 1971, has now released an album to celebrate 37 years of the catwalk, here at London Fashion Week 2008.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch party at Selfridges in London, where Vivienne revealed the other important aspects to putting on a good show when it comes to fashion.

‘I don’t listen to much music, or watch any TV very much, clothes is the best I can do out of everything that’s important. However, the music is more important than the clothes, in...  More

Credit Crunch is not a cereal!
Credit Crunch is not a cereal!
The best shows and backstage moments from Day 2 of London Fashion Week. We caught up with the charming Paul Smith backstage after his show at Claridges, where he was on fine form and joked about his success in the face of the credit crunch.

Todd Lynn spoke to us backstage after his fantastically received collection of women's tailored pieces. While backstage we also had a chat with the lovely Maddy Platt who was sporting Todd Lynn herself, and Gary Powell of Dirty Pretty Things who did the music for the show....  More

Magic Monday
Magic Monday
London Fashion Week gets into full swing, and Day Two is far from a mundane Monday. Luella led the way in the morning with a flurry of purple, pink and orange in a collection dominated by tweed and lace.

Marios Schwab then presented a beautiful collection at the TOPSHOP venue. Precisely cut garments were accented by oversized soft copper bangles and ropes.

We spoke to the designer backstage, even though he was feeling a little ill! He talked to us about the aesthetic he's developed over the years. Duffy did the hair, and told us backstage that 'Marios absolutely killed it this...  More
