James Blunt talks to t5m about his earliest musical experiences and where his talent comes from.
Blunt said that of all the people in his family, “I think my mum probably has the music in her.” Blunt’s mother helped nurture his musical talents, telling us that “she made me learn piano from a very early age… before that she was making me learn the recorder and the violin.”
Blunt has perhaps one of the odder memories among musicians of his early violin playing, telling t5m “I just remember playing hot cross buns with some children dancing anti-clockwise ‘round a table with some hot cross buns on it.” A straight-faced Blunt said “I think we were probably involved in some satanic ritual.”
