I like direct contact with my audience
Channel: James Blunt
James Blunt talks about how he keeps contact with his fans.
Unusually for an age when artists are often more a product of their producers than their own inspiration, and celebrity is used to get people behind the velvet rope, James Blunt likes to keep a hands on approach to his fans. In the digital, the easiest way to reach the most people is through the internet. “I run my own website” says Blunt, “for me that was really important so that I wasn’t just using it through a record company.”
James Blunt wanted to make the website so that “the record company wasn’t the one in control of that connection with our audience.” To that end, Blunt “designed the website with some friends of mine.” He continues to keep control, and to “run and maintain it with those same friends.”
Blunt has been an invaluable asset to his fans, and his dedication to them has meant that they have all had a chance to interact with him. Blunt enjoys being able to keep up a rapport, and told t5m “I really like that direct contact with my supporters and audience.”
