Lots of people ask me why networking, and, is it still relevant these days? My response is always positive: definitely spend time networking and it is definitely very relevant, especially now.

Perhaps the general experience of networking has been that of plenty of rather shallow interactions, based on individual, and sometimes momentary, gain.

My belief is that networking should be about finding common ground, but most of all, about finding out how you can be of help to the other person. How about if networking is something that empowers and inspires, both you and the other person?

Networking, making a connection, should be a combination of genuine interest, authenticity and generosity. When you meet someone who you have a connection with and with whom you can share your expertise, contacts, ideas, enthusiasm and good stories, you will find it easier to build a long lasting connection. Genuinely sharing will also make your existing connections more rewarding and sustainable. Networking to me is not about speaking with as many folks possible in one week, but about spending quality time with individual people you meet.

In this blog I will be sharing tips, observations and stories about networking. Do look out for the next one and do feel free to share your networking experiences with me!
