Mr Squeaky clean, is beautifully dressed in a suit with broad shoulders, narrow waist and slim arms, exactly the way Tom likes. He talks in a charming unpretentious way too. As I watched him in Selfridges intimate theatre, you felt close to him without being close. Interviewed beautifully by Colin Mcdowell there was comradeship. Tom feels almost ‘priest like’ but so very naughty. Why does fashion have to change so often, he asks the audience, when the same thing always suits you?. Although he likes colour on other people, he hates it on himself. As a qualified Architect he bullshitted himself into designing clothes round New York and after awhile was given the opportunity to change the face of Gucci, this of course is the potted version. We all know what he has done. He is introverted and this drives him. He doesn’t do anything he doesn’t like, he can’t he says. From Scent to Glasses this man must be rushed off his feet. Yet he has time for the smell of manure and riding horses. He wants to try everything. He has just made a film, and spent 5 months editing it. The one thing he says he hopes he is, is ” Nice”. Nice is too boring for a man who is so talented. I personally, would love to see a tantrum.. I ask him” What is your Mother like?”. he replied “I am not allowed to tell her age, but she looks good, and husbands kept dying on her,so now she has boyfriend 15 years younger than her” He likes ordinary too, his sister is a school teacher in Los Angeles. I hope he is inscrutable it would be equally interesting if he was the opposite to all he portrays.

He also liked throwing out my marble Kandinsky floor. I nearly fainted when I saw it in the skip as I passed my old house in the Boltons. Not too nice.
